• Any runners interested in this week’s meet should notify Mr. Fougere no later than today.

• The Health Action Team will be starting its year off with a meeting in the Youth Health Centre today at lunch.  Anyone is able to be part of this team.

• The Island View GSA will have its first meeting in the Youth Health Centre on Tuesday the 24th at lunchtime.  Anyone is welcome to join our group.

• Tabletop Club will hold its first meeting today after school from 2:10 until 4.  All are welcome.  Come play.

• Mondays and Thursdays at lunch are Open Art Studio in 117, the art room.  All are welcome.  This is meant to be a supervised creative space for students to work on self-directed projects, school-work or just hang out with friends. Bring your lunch.  Check with Ms. Perry if you have any questions.

• Island View's ART CLUB will be starting the first week of October on Wednesdays after school from 2:30-4:30 in the art room. We will start working on directed projects relying heavily on student interests. See Ms. Perry with any concerns/ questions.

• Do you write music, play an instrument, or act?  Do you draw, paint, or write?  If so, join our Creative Club in room 223 at lunch on Wednesdays
 
• Gym Lunch Time Activities:
Mon and Wednesday – Recreational Play
Tuesday and Thursday – Organized Sport. 
Doors open at 10:50 a.m. and end at 11:25 a.m.

• Any grade 12 student interested in being nominated for the Loran Scholarship can sign up in guidance. The Loran Scholarship is valued at $100,000 and is open to students who have a minimum average of 85% and who have demonstrated integrity, courage, personal autonomy, a commitment to serving others and overall leadership potential. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, September 25. For more information, please check in guidance.

• The Army Reserves will be hosting a career day at the Willow Park Armory on Thursday September 26, where students can learn about the exciting part-time career opportunities with the Canadian Armed Forces Army Reserve. Space is limited for this event; interested students must see Mr. O’Reilly in guidance by end of day.

• From Sept 16th - Sept 27th Island View will be taking orders for fresh local fruit/veggie boxes.  The money from our Nourish Your Roots campaign goes back into our Breakfast Program!  Spread the word to friends/family and support local farmers!

• Students attending the Europe Trip in March will be selling freezies on Fridays at lunch for $1 each, come out and show your support.

• Any students interested in being a peer tutor this year are asked to speak with Mr. O’Reilly in guidance. Peer tutoring will take place at lunch or after school and is great to have on your resume or scholarship application.

• Students bringing a car to school are asked to drop by the main office and provide us with your name, car model and license plate.

• Students are not to park in the gravel HRM lot next door.  You are asked to park in the school’s lot next to Seaside Elementary.
