• Calnen Photography will be here November 14th & 15th for graduation photos. Graduating students are asked to go to the school’s website to book your portrait sitting online.

• Island View is excited to start planning the 2020/2021 School trip. Current grade 10 and 11 students will have the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic for a Cultural Immersion Trip in January of 2021.  There will be an information meeting this Friday Nov. 8th at lunch in room 223 with Ms. Hughes. All interested grade 10 and 11 students are invited to come to learn about the details of this service-based trip and receive an information package to bring home. Please note: there will be no Europe trip planned for the 2020/2021 school year. If students want to travel with the school - this is your opportunity.  See Ms. Hughes with any questions.

• WE Act meeting Thursday at lunch in room 325 - please bring your chromebooks.

• Students interested in the Cheerleading Club are asked to complete the Information Survey on our IVHS homepage. And! Make sure you listen to announcements for future information.

• For the month of November, the Intramural Sport will be Volleyball. There will be 3 volleyball nets set up. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come out. There will be a recreational/fun court and a more competitive court.

• Can you sing, dance, play an instrument?  Do you have a funky talent?  Sign up for the coffee house on November 19, 6 p.m.  Sign-up sheet is in the main office.  Bring your family and friends to support Island View High School.

• Lynette Richards, an awesome glass artist from Terrance Bay, is coming to Island View High School to host a stained-glass workshop in the art room (117)!  There are only 3 seats left for the workshop. Sign-up sheet is on the art room door. There is a $3 fee to secure your seat. and Ms. Perry will convert that to afterschool snacks those workshop days. The three dates for this 9-hour workshop are: Wed. Nov. 13th, Wed., Nov 20th, & Wed., Nov. 27th (all afterschool from 2:15-5:15 in 117).  Students will design, cut their glass, then assemble and solder pieces together in a small but beautiful stained-glass window!

• Wondering if you have an overdue Library Book? Check your gnspes email account for a notice from the library.

• Wednesday at lunch the Creative Club will meet in room 223. Bring your creativity!

• Yearbook meeting today at lunch in 321. 

• The Yearbook committee is looking for all artists at Island View to create the cover for the 2019-2020 Island View yearbook. Send covers to Ms. Griffin in room 321. 

• Pre-orders for yearbook's will be take on Thursday's at lunch in the lobby. The deadline for ordering your yearbook is December 20th. in the main lobby for a cost of $45.

• Freezie Friday! Every Friday at lunch purchase a freezie for only $1 in support of students going on the Europe Trip.

• Any students interested in programming club, come to room 309 at 2:10 Thursdays.   Bring your chrome book.  All levels welcome. Any questions, please see Mr. White in room 309.

• Guitar club Tuesdays in the music room at lunch. 

• Open Art Studio Mondays and Thursdays at lunch are in 117.  All are welcome. 

• Art Club, Wednesdays after school from 2:30-4:30 in the art room.
 
• Gym Lunch Time Activities:
Mon and Wednesday – Recreational Play
Tuesday and Thursday – Organized Sport. 
Doors open at 10:50 a.m. and end at 11:25 a.m.

• The Eastern Passage Cow Bay Lions Club are looking for volunteers to help with their Tuesday night Bingo's; this is a great opportunity to gain some experience to build your resume or scholarship application. Interested students can speak with Mr. O’Reilly in guidance.

• Carleton University will be at the school this Friday at 8 am to speak with grade 12 students about their programs. Carleton is located in Ottawa and specializes in most academic areas including humanities, international business, aerospace engineering, science and journalism. Because this presentation is taking place during class time, interested students must sign up in guidance.

• There are currently 2 upcoming scholarships available; one is the Horatio Alger Student Scholarship, valued between $5000 - $10,000; the other is the TD Canada Trust Scholarship, valued up to $70,000. Students can find more information on these awards in guidance.

• Students bringing cars to school are asked to drop by the main office and provide us with your name, car make and model and license plate.

• Students are not to park in the gravel HRM lot next door.  You are asked to park in the school’s lot next to Seaside Elementary.

• A reminder that eating food in the gym is not permitted. Please eat your food out of the gym before entering.

• A reminder that we are a scent-aware building so please be respectful with regard to the use of scents.
