• A reminder to all students that are currently in grade 10 and 11 who are interested in the school trip to the Dominican Republic - there will be a parent meeting on Thursday November 28th at 5:15 pm - Parents are invited to come to ask questions and find out more about this great trip.

• WE Act will be having a bake sale next Wednesday at lunch as a fundraiser for HomeBridge Youth community.  Bring your change for some tasty treats towards a great cause.

• Cheer practice 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, November 26.  Please come prepared with sneakers and work-out gear.

• The Passage Players are presenting Dear Santa, a play by Norm Foster, this weekend and next at St. Peter's Church on Cow Bay Road.  This show is directed by Mr. Pierce and features 2 Island View students, Jaxson Couchman and Ashlyn Thomas.  Come out and support local theatre,

• Monday, November 25 students will be holding a food drive in support of Feed Nova Scotia as part of a service learning project.  Thank you, in advance, for donations of non-perishable food items.

• Wondering if you have an overdue Library Book? Check your gnspes email account for a notice from the library.

• Creative Club meets Wednesdays at lunch in room 223.  Bring your creativity!

• Yearbook meeting Monday at lunch in 321. 

• The Yearbook committee is looking for all artists at Island View to create the cover for the 2019-2020 Island View yearbook. Send covers to Ms. Griffin in room 321. 

• Pre-orders for yearbooks taken today at lunch in the lobby.  Cost is $45.   The deadline for ordering a yearbook is December 20th.

• Freezie Friday! Every Friday at lunch purchase a freezie for only $1 in support of students going on the Europe Trip.

• Programming club, room 309 at 2:10 Thursdays.  

• Guitar club Tuesdays in the music room at lunch. 

• Open Art Studio Mondays and Thursdays at lunch are in 117.  All are welcome.

GUIDANCE AND GRADE 12 INFORMATION

• A representative from St. Thomas University will be in guidance this coming Monday, November 25, during lunch. St. Thomas is a small liberal arts university in Fredericton, New Brunswick and offers specialized programs in journalism, criminology, and social work. Please stop by to learn more about their programs.

• Tallahassee and Ocean View Elementary are looking for students from Island View wo work with and support some of their students during the school week. This would involve playing sports and games, arts and craft, and taking students for walks. This is an excellent volunteer activity for any student; if you are interested please see Mr. O’Reilly in guidance.

• Attention grade 12s, five new scholarships have been posted outside of the guidance office. Values of these scholarships range from $500 to $80,000. For more information on these scholarships, please check with Mr. O’Reilly in guidance.

• The Women in Engineering is holding its annual Go Eng Girl conference on November 23rd at the Dalhousie University. This event is a free day at Dalhousie University for female students in grades 7-12 to discover more about engineering and engineering careers. For more information, please check with guidance.

REMINDERS

• Students bringing cars to school are asked to drop by the main office and provide us with your name, car make and model and license plate.

• Students are not to park in the gravel HRM lot next door.  You are asked to park in the school’s lot next to Seaside Elementary.

• A reminder that eating food in the gym is not permitted. Please eat your food out of the gym before entering.

• A reminder that we are a scent-aware building so please be respectful with regard to the use of scents.
