Options & Opportunities (O2 Program)

Island View High School

O2 Coordinator: Mr. Peter Dulhanty Email:

I have had the pleasure of running the Options and Opportunities Program since 2012. I believe that this has helped students have a major leg up when it comes to finding potential careers that meet their skills, interests and abilities.  The program allows students to open doors and be exposed to a great variety of options.  The main goal is that by the end of high school they will be prepared to make a decision about where they would like to go next...whether it is the university, apprenticeship, college or the workforce.

O2 Program

The Options and Opportunities Program is an academic program that provides students with exposure to career and post-secondary options over the course of their three years of high school. Students will receive career education and be given a chance to receive additional training and certificates to help make them more employable.

Students are exposed to careers through field trips, job shadows, guest speakers, short term work placements, cooperative education courses and other opportunities.

This exposure will allow students to network with and receive mentorship from industry professionals. With this help and the career education students in the O2 program are more likely to be prepared to find a post-secondary path.  May include:

    University
    Community College
    Private Colleges
    Apprenticeship
    Direct Entry into the workforce
