• The GSA is hosting a Pride Party this Friday at lunch in the Youth Health Centre.  Everyone is welcome to join and celebrate pride month with some food, drinks & music.

• Student Council applications are available at the main office.  Applications are due Monday, June 17th at 2:00 pm.

• Yearbooks will be handed out to pre-orders today at lunch and there are some for sale, as well.  Cost to purchase is $15.  Yearbooks are also available throughout the day in the main office.

• A reminder to students that all library books are due back by Friday, June 14.  

• On June 13th in the resource room the Wellness team will be hosting a session with Therapeutic Paws Therapy Dogs over lunch.  Any students interested in participating must sign the roster list located in the main office.

• Eastern Passage-Cow Bay Summer Carnival Committee is sponsoring the Annual Summer Carnival Queen Teen Pageant.  Interested individuals are encouraged to pick up an application form. Additional details are available in the main office. 

• Mindful Mondays in the Youth Health Centre @ lunch.

• Students going on the IVHS Europe trip in March 2020 will be selling freezies at lunch every day this week for only $1

• Also, students from the Europe trip are having a BBQ fundraiser on Friday June 14th at lunch time in the courtyard. You can purchase hot dogs for $1 and hamburgers for $2.

• Attention all runners:  The running club will be meeting Mondays after school in the gym.  All are welcome.

• Intramurals Monday to Thursday from 10:45-11:20am.

• Jazz Band, Wednesday after school.

• Any student, who has completed the babysitting course and is interested in some possible babysitting work are asked to speak to Mr. O’Reilly in guidance.

• Students interested in part-time work in the seafood and aquaculture industry, with the potential of earning a bursary ranging from $500-$1000 for college or university in the process, can see guidance for more information and application process.

• The Royal City Soccer Club is looking for staff and volunteers for their summer day camp programs. Camps run through July and August and will be taking place in Dartmouth.

• The Halifax Buskers Festival is looking for volunteers for this summer’s event. Available positions include working as a stage manager, overseeing an information booth and being a runner.  For more information on both of these volunteer opportunities, please check in guidance.

• We now have an official Island View swag online shopping portal. There is a wide selection of products from a variety of brands that you can customize with the approved logos and graphics found on the site 24/7 with no minimum order quantities.  https://islandviewhighschool.entripyshops.com/

• A reminder to staff and students that we are a scent-aware building.

• A volunteer recruiter from Ocean View Long term Care Facility will be set up outside guidance during lunch today. Any student looking to volunteer and/or get involved in their community during the summer to stop by and get some information.
