• Congratulations to Jacob Rhyno and Thomas MacDonald who qualified for the Provincial Championship next week. Jacob will compete in the 100 dash, and Thomas will compete in the long jump and high jump. Good luck to you both!

• Tickets for the Prom will be on sale May 30, 31 and June 1. Tickets must be purchased at the main office at lunch time only. To purchase a ticket, students must have a completed dance contract. Dance contracts are now available at the main office. All students must complete the dance agreement, even if they fundraised the cost of the ticket.  Tickets are $60 per person, and you may pay using cash or debit. 

• Apart from students who qualified for a complementary grad fee payment, because of raffle ticket sales, graduation fees are due May 31.  The fee is $60 and may pay using cash or debit.

• Grad band students interested in playing for Graduation please, contact Ms. Mark. Rehearsals, Wednesdays, lunch and/or after school.

• All softball players are to pay their fees to the main office as soon as possible.

• Track athletes who made it to regionals are asked to pay their $10 to the office.

• Our Athletic department needs you! Please sign up on the Athletics classroom to bake some yummy treats for our bake sale next week.

• Do you have a Social Insurance Number?  If not, a representative from Service Canada will be at Island View during lunch on Thursday, June 1, 2023. You will require your original birth certificate to apply for your Social Insurance Number.   The process is open to both students and younger children of staff if you don’t have your child/ren’s Social Insurance Number and only takes a few minutes.  If you have any questions, please contact School Liaison Dawn Gardiner (Howe-Power), Thursdays in Room 205 or at 902-225-2639 or dawn.howepower@halifax.ymca.ca

• Attention grade 12 students. Currently there are two scholarships available that will be awarded to an Island View student. These awards are the Eastern Passage / Cow Bay’s Lion’s Club Bursary and the Dartmouth NDP Community Award. Deadlines are approaching soon; for more information, check with guidance or check the guidance website.

• Are you interested in learning how to crochet? Join the crochet club on Mondays at lunch in room 321. All students and staff are welcome.

• Just a friendly reminder, that the library does not loan out Chromebooks or chargers for the day. So, please remember to bring charged Chromebooks to school every day.  If you do not have a Chromebook and need one, please drop by the library and pick up a user agreement.

• Grade 12 students are asked to check the Potential Grads classroom for important student loan information.

• All potential grads have been added to the Potential Grad Google Classroom, please login to accept the invite.  If you did not receive an invite, please see Mr. White in room 309.

• A reminder to grade 12 students to check the updated scholarship list on the guidance website and outside the guidance office.

• We are a scent-aware building so please be respectful with the use of scents.
