Do you want to be your class valedictorian? Are you the person best suited to speak on behalf of your classmates?

If so, complete the following:

1. Read through the guidelines
2. Fill out the application
3. Secure 3 nominations and have those people complete the form
4. Prepare a speech
5. Submit a sample to the selection committee
6. Present in an audition/interview situation

If you are selected, a recorded version of your final speech will be shared with graduates.

Important Timeline

May 18 - May 21
The application and nominations forms are distributed through Grade 12 Google Classrooms. A school alert message will be sent out to homes of Grade 12 students advising that the application process has begun.

May 28, 4pm
All applications and nominations forms must be received. Incomplete applications (ie. missing nominations or speech excerpts) will not be considered.

June 2, by noon
Applicants will be advised if they have been approved by the committee to move onto the next stage of the selection process.

June 3 - 8
Applicants will be crafting their speeches, as well as working with their mentor teacher.

June 10
Students will join a Google Meet to give their speech to the selection committee. Notifications of times will be sent out in advance.

June 18
The final recording of the Valedictory Address must be provided to the selection committee.
