• African Heritage Month 2021 Fact:

Quentrel Provo is a Halifax singer and known activist. He is the Founder/CEO of Stop the Violence Brand and Movement which he started after the tragic death of his close cousin Kaylin Diggs in August 2012.  He was nominated for Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Award in 2020 and was recognized by the United Nations on the global list of the Most Influential People of African Descent Under 40 in 2019.  Provo has also received a Senate of Canada 150 Medal, was chosen to meet Barack Obama during his 2019 visit to Halifax and won the Indomitable Spirit Award at Nova Scotia’s Courage to Give Back 2020 Awards.

• The Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and children. Wearing this moose hide signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life and to work together to end violence against women and children.

JOIN US on the 11th of February 2021 to take part in our National Online Moose Hide Campaign Day and together, in solidarity, we can show our commitment to ending violence against women and children. Wear the Moose Hide Pin to share your commitment (they will be delivered to classes on the 11th).

• Yearbooks are being pre-ordered online this year. The cost of a yearbook is $45 and the link is posted on the Island View High School website. Be sure to order your yearbooks early as there are a limited number available.

• Applications for Parking Permits may be made through the school’s website.
